Universal welding wire for structural and shipbuilding steels
This manganese-silicon steel electrode wire, coated with copper, is a versatile solution for MAG welding. It will work both in the workshop and on the construction site, offering reliability and good weld quality. It allows for flexible adjustment of welding parameters – from high current intensities with spray arc, to lower ones in the case of short-circuit metal transfer. This means it can be effectively used for a variety of applications and material thicknesses.
Application and properties
G3SI1 wire is intended for welding low-carbon structural, boiler and shipbuilding steels, as well as fine-grained carbon-manganese steels. Thanks to its mechanical properties – yield strength of 490 N/mm² and tensile strength of 590 N/mm² – it ensures durable and solid connections. High impact strength (KV 100 J at -10°C and 80 J at -20°C) guarantees resistance of welds to low temperatures. The possibility of using CO₂ or argon-CO₂ mixtures (Ar+20%CO₂) as shielding gases further increases its range of applications.
Installation and safety
Welding with this wire requires connecting the positive pole to the electrode (direct current DC+). It can be used in almost all welding positions – flat (PA), horizontal (PB), vertical (PC), overhead (PD), ceiling (PE) and vertical up (PF). However, vertical welding from top to bottom should be avoided. The wire has numerous approvals: TÜV, DB, LR, ABS, NAKS and CE, which confirms its compliance with applicable safety and quality standards. The chemical composition of the wire is: 0.1% C, 0.9% S, 1.5% Mn and copper coating. Werkstoff no. is 1.5125.
